Everyone using a team avatar - yes or no?
Avatars & website
O HAI
When I get some time, I', going to jazz up the website - maybe even integrate the forum into the website proper.
What I'd like to know is, what would you like to see on it? Results and upcoming matches are a given, what else?
Also: I've done myself a basic snuke. avatar - like this
How does everyone feel about using this as their in-game avatar? (Bear in mind it'll be smaller). As we're now a highly evolved semi-pro outfit
Anyone attached to manatees, mushrooms etc, you'll still have sprays to play with.
OK, so we might not attract the likes of Packard Bell or Coolermaster, but a nice uniform presentation will help to get ads/sponsors when we hit teh big time

That was jag you numpty.
I like it jag, although to give it individuality, everyone could have that snuke name on their avatar, but have a different background of their liking. Or have a theme running for the avatars. Like different pictures of HILDAWG

I'm fairly indifferent tbh.
A team avi is a nice idea, but Grems suggestion of alternates of the same thing is cool too.

I like how Fakkelbrigade do it - all different, but themed so they have a team look:

So are we going tagless out of matches, and all switching to an avatar ?

Yeah, the avatar is cool Jag.
Almost enough to tempt me to ditch the manatee...on the one hand that's been my avatar all over the 'net for years, but on the other, a whole snuke team with that pic would look good...

Works. After our recent successes I can't step out without being acosted by interwebz fans and cheerleaders. Hiding teh snuke badge out of matches should give us some privacy

Re: Avatars & website
Next question is (slightly off topic for this thread) are we going to step ourselves up from 'casual team' to 'semipro' (sorry for the term, not really sure how else to put it)
Basically involving better leadership from me (but when I/Jag/Whoever says something, it will have to be done) and more structured game nights as well as practices (I'd prefer 2 officials a week and 1 practice, perhaps also a friendly as well?)
Or do we want to stay casual with just the odd match and be more of a mess around team, as we are today.
I'd make a poll but I'm sure people can air their views here. PLEASE POST WHAT YOU WANT TO BE... Either Casual or Semipro.
/semipro.

With challenges, that was what I was going for anyway. One ED challenge and 1 ETF2L game a week. Sign ups are open for the new season of ESL atm as well which would be nice to look into.
oh, /semipro

Oh, could one of the admins change the steam group profile pic to this as well. Sense of uniformity.

Re: Avatars & website
I'd rather stay casual, tbh.
I've been in some fairly hardcore clans in GW who had a leader calling strats and what he said was law...and woe betide you if you didn't listen or fucked up in a match.
But in the end my most successful team, the one I was part of longest and the most fun to play with was one that kept it casual. We won lots (against some opposition who took it very seriously - including beating the world no.1 at the time) because we all got along, played together enough to always know what others would do in a match and what they could, and couldn't, do well, and because having no one guy ordering us all around meant we had to use our own heads wrt to tactics - and could pull some unusual stuff off on occasion as a result. TF2 is less tactics-based than that game, but still, that's how I prefer to play.
Plus, it's a huge pressure on the shoulders of whoever does end up in charge of calling tactics - does anyone even want to do that? Hez?
Tbh as snuke we've only played a few matches together so far (and on the whole they've not gone badly). Ask me in 6 months after 100 matches if we need to try and be more 'pro' to step up our game, but for now it's too soon to blame that for losses - we've barely begun to get into practise yet, imo.
However: if the rest of you do want to get more serious and organised about it, I can live with that and will listen to tactics / turn up for practise sessions or whatever. I do agree that more scrims and so on have got to be a good thing (if only because 6v6 is more fun that doomy's anyways)

Btw that pic in that link comes out kind of washed-out looking when selected as avatar in steam (no idea what steam is doing to it tbh, but it looks shit), with the background blue-grey rather than black.
Whacking the contrast right up on the original file helps.

Re: Avatars & website
I'd prefer casual, as it stands I can't arrange to play on certain nights every week, my course at uni is pretty intensive (9-4).
