Recruitment drive

So, I'd like to propose a small recruitment drive. My thinking is as follows:

1. We need to have moar regular matches to improve as a team, on ED we should be having 1 a week or more. More team = more chance of fielding 6 on a given night.

2. Ppl like Dirk, Naked, EventualDecline (any others?) are good players and would be an asset to the team

3, I'm due to become a dad in the next 4 weeks and *may* have other things to do of an evening lol

Imo we don't need to recruit. We have enough active players that more than 6 have signed up to every match that's been posted so far. We need more matches so the players we DO have can play, not more players.


Also Dirk has no mic, and eventual *was* a better soldier than hez or rob but he's not as good anymore plus we really don't need another solly. Naked is a good soldier/medic/heavy, but again we have lots of ppl who play those classes.

Sorry but I have never rated Eventual, all he ever does is camp in his base, not really hard to win fights when you have the advantage every time, dont think I've ever seen him perform any sort of airshot no matter how easy either.

Naked is a good pyro. That's a welcome way to introduce a new born into the world - ORANGE BOX

Thing with recruitment is that if we need more then I'm sure we can get them, but don't really know if we do?

Also talking about the people you have suggested:

Dirk is a bastard spawn camper (still raging from last week on goldrush ) - But as good as he really is as spy and demo, he seems the kind of guy who would ragequit in the middle of a match, because he just cba with TF2.. +no mic =/

Eventual used to be one of those guys I thought of as a decent soldier but yeah, these days with quite a few people getting better as soldier, I think he is up there with the likes of Keeny or someone? +the rage +no mic=/

Naked is a top soldier and also seems to be playing medic more along with pyro? But really, we already have loads of medics and to be fair quite a few decent soldiers (not an ego trip, but with toasty, rob and me thats quite a few really! +other guys messing around more with soldier on doomys) and pyros arnt always that useful (+rob is great pyro!)

Main reason I haven't already let Naked in is just because he hasnt really asked? He made the push to get a mic but almost never speaks on doomys and after he got it, he never asked me for a chat or anything to do with the team so I just assumed he wasnt that bothered and left it as it was.

As a side note, sorry I've not been challenging people as actively, although having thought about it, we now have narrowed down that the issue with the server was infact the sourcetv and with that removed it should be fine for matches.

If people want to challenge anyone or even just create an open challenge then please feel free and make a post here (obviously a few days notice is good) and I will start to actively challenge more. What days is everyone free? Are Tuesdays/Thursdays/Sundays still good?

Finally, congratulations Jag! MiniJag will probably be a pro spy in no time at all

Naked is a top solly, but like you said, we have a few of them anyway. Dunno about comparing eventual to keeny; they're both mediocre at best As for day, Tuesdays and thursdays are looking lamer and lamer for me due to work and college. I'm still fine for any other day including Sunday.

We need some guys who can multi class from time to time. Maybe Naked/eventual/f_ro? eventual and f_ro have comms, dunno about Naked though. Dirk would be nice to get too, but I have never seen him use a mic so that maybe a hurdle.

Trane? He's a good player as heavy, demo and solly and knows how to use his mic. Dunno how active he is, but that might just be because getting bored with doomy's (he used to be on loads but not so much atm)

Yeah naked is pretty decent at soldier when he wants to be. But he got kicked from his clan for some reason, along with some other guy so I don't know where his commitments lie. Trane is pretty good, same with fro. Can't think of anyone off the top of my head right now :/.

Well, I have recruited r7an as another player, he is a pretty decent soldier/medic and I'm sure he could be pretty decent at other classes if required.

Naked (he doesnt really use his comms and is a bit inactive at the minute?)

Suppose it also depends on which classes we really need most at the minute because we already have quite a few guys who can play medic well, also soldier well, scout well, demo well and a few decent heavies?

I currently see our general game team as:

Soldier
Scout
Demo
Heavy
Spy/Sniper
Medic

Else maybe depending on the map/people available:

+1 soldier -1 scout?
+1 demo -1 spy/sniper?
+1 demo -1 heavy?

I think that being able to play 2 classes and switch between midmatch depending on the situation really good so like Rob changing between Soldier and Scout or Jag with spy/sniper being a big bonus to throw off the other team and help balance us out.

So people I see who can switch midgame (And I recommend it, as in the past we usually are a bit vague on teams and classes etc) - Obviously only if there is space and we dont go over the 2 per class limit

Rob - Soldier -> Scout -> Demo?
Toasty - Demo -> Scout -> Sniper -> Soldier?
Karma - Spy -> Scout -> Engineer?
Me - Useless. (maybe scout but its a big gamble?)
Jag - Spy -> Sniper -> Demo?
Grem - Heavy -> Scout -> Medic
Adel + Motiv - Medic (unless playing as Heavy for Adel, not sure what other classes motiv plays?)
Poop - Demo +?
Killing - Heavy +?
r7an - ??

With this in mind, in future matches I'd be happy to see people playing a mix if they are happy to change if the situation requires it and maybe also playing with 2 demos, whereby 1 demo can switch to a second class if it would help balance us out, especially now with Rob and Toasty becoming top quality demos.

So something like:

Soldier
Soldier/Scout
Demo
Demo/Sniper/Scout/Spy
Heavy/Scout/Sniper/Spy
Medic

I think we definately need at least 1 soldier and 1 demo in each game but the others we can mix?

I think you've got the right idea when it comes to recruiting, I definitely agree with those potential recruits. Although I am not sure about Naked simply because he doesn't use voice comms.

Oh Rho seems like a good engi when I've seen her play one.

Rho's a good demo, but I don't think we shld solely recruit her for the fact that she's a good engi too. Engis are quite useless in a 6v6 situation, as any smart demo can take out a lvl3, even without a medic.
Also, along with people wise class change, we should setup a list of map-specific classes as well. for eg:

Badlands: 2xSollies, 2xScouts, 1xDemo, 1xMedic - replace 1 solly/scout with 1 demo
Granary: 2xSollies, 2xScouts, 1xDemo, 1xMedic - replace solly/scout with heavy
etc,

So if we start with this config, and change depending on the situation, we can start working out strats for maps as well.
I've seen poop messing around with scout and solly from time to time when he's not scottishing it up.

Yeah and to be honest, Toasty, Jag and Rob are also becoming top snipers, its quite surprising how a good sniper can really fk up the other team so that should definately be added into the mix.

As for recruiting, I don't see engineer as a worth while class (at the minute anyway) so you are right Grem, but do you think we should go with more of 2x scouts or more of 2x demo or even stay with 2x soldiers?

We now have r7an as an additional (i think) soldier/? so what else do we need? more demos or more spies or more what? (Karma is looking to spec spy/scout btw)

Haha 'spec'. Takes me back to my WoW days. Spies like engis are very situational. And they do require a lot of luck. If they fail, which they're gonna, a lot, especially when there only 6 per side, we would constantly be down 1 man. I reckon another demo would be ideal. The way it stands, Poop is our main demo, and if he's away, they rob/toasty would have to fill in, and in that case we lose scout/solly. A second main demo would be handy.

I really like the idea of switching between classes mid-game, I ususally switch between 5 classes when I'm on doomys. We should recruit Trane and fro too.

Trane's probably the best heavy on doomy's right now (since newcomer's not around anymore) and he used to be good as demo (but was totally sucking the other day...out of practise or something).

Does Fro use a mic much? I can't think what he sounds like...

lolfighter's also a bloody good scout, but don't think he has a mic and anyway we're set for scouts I think.



And Hez as a backup class you need to get back in practise with pyro!

I'm an ok sniper if required. My main classes are really solly, medic and sniper but I don't mind playing pyro/heavy etc. I'm a terrible terrible demoman though

Are you guys still looking for another good demo? I know we have Rho and Poop who are very good.

Bloke called Synical/Benneh I know, played on doomys for about 3 years now (CSS + TF2) and he's a good demoman.

Synnical is a horrible demo! Also the worst pyro on doomy's

im pretty much a jack of all classes (trades) at the min. main is scout, then can run down to pyro solly or sniper, then heavy or medic, rest
